The Schram Teachers’ Academy for Research & Training (START), is a faculty development program that is designed to empower academic and administrative professionals, educational consultants and counsellors to offer their service to the cause of quality education. Dr. Elizabeth Schram, instituted START in 2010 as a global platform that empowers educators to collaborate across cultures, share innovative ideas, and collectively elevate the standard of education worldwide.

Dr. Peter Ignatius

Message from the Managing Trustee

We are pleased to invite you to START GLOBAL 2025, the Educational Symposium sponsored by The Schram Foundation to be held at Chennai on July 18-19, 2025. START - The Schram Teachers’ Academy for Research and Training - was conceived by our Founder, Dr. Elizabeth Schram in 2010, with two main objectives - At the micro-level: to provide in-house training to upgrade the teaching quality, in content and skills, for current faculty of The Schram Academy group of schools. At the macro-level: to introduce and integrate best international practices in educational philosophy, psychology, and methodology into the learning environment of The Schram Academy group of schools

The model which we have used to promote these initiatives is by organizing seminars, conferences, symposia, and workshops on relevant themes related to educational theory and practice in India and overseas. From the outset, we have invited prominent practitioners of innovative educational tools to inspire teachers with their creativity and expertise. Our desire is to expose educators to the emerging trends in the research-teaching-learning nexus which will motivate students to be transformers of society in India and abroad. START GLOBAL 2025 provides a forum for leaders of Chennai schools to discover and explore new ways to enhance the learning experience of current and future students. We are happy to welcome international and local experts in various fields of education as resource persons at START GLOBAL 2025. From Australian, Netherlands, UK, and USA university faculty, to leaders in institutions in Chennai, we are confident that our presenters of this year’s symposium will enlighten, encourage, and energize teachers to be, and do, their best for our students - tomorrow’s global leaders.

MR. Jason Ignatius

The Schram’s Teachers’ Academy for Research and Training – has truly set a benchmark in teacher development. What stood out to me was how well their programs blend solid educational research with the practical needs of today’s classrooms. Every session encouraged reflection, introduced fresh ideas, and helped build confidence in our roles as educators. The workshops weren’t just informative — they were inspiring and immediately useful in the classroom. The trainers brought in-depth knowledge and a clear passion for teaching, which made the learning experience even more engaging. Ms. Jaibala

Former Principal,

START is a distinctive and uniquely experiential hallmark of The Schram Academy. This intuitive initiative,a brainchild of our Founder Chairman Dr. Elizabeth Schram, was a headstart for the professional growth of the faculty members of the institution. The program is an intensive and efficient process of competence acquisition supported by the best Educational Scholars. This dynamic program provided opportunities to engage in authentic experiences and helped to forge a fulfilling career path. START intended to turn into an achievable goal for all of us. I was empowered with successful and appropriate leadership techniques that supported my Educational and Administrative objectives immensely

Mr. Jos Fenjin

Arte College Tutor,
The Netherlands

I enjoyed the diversity of speakers at the event. They provided valuable insights not only for new teachers but also for those with more experience. What I appreciated most about events like this were the conversations about education. These included discussions with the speakers, as well as chats with the people sitting next to me and all the colleagues I met during the event. While reading a good book is beneficial, having teachers inspire each other with sometimes simple ideas that can enhance your lessons the next day is often even more valuable.

Ms. Navaneetham

Former Vice Principal,
The Schram Academy

The inception of this educational convention called the START Symposium in the year 2010 was indeed a novel initiative by Dr. Schram who realized the dire need to bring the educators from various parts of India and abroad. Today, I attribute all my accomplishments to Dr. Schram who fostered creativity in the TSA school system while equipping educators like me with progressive pedagogical tools and by nurturing a culture of continuous learning.

Dr. Vimala Punithkumar

Academic Advisor,
The Schram Foundation

“Schram Teachers’ Academy for Research and Training (START) was established by The Schram Foundation in 2010 for the professional development of their teachers. It serves as an educational platform where teachers meet and share their ideas about new teaching methods. They present their individual and collaborative classroom research findings and speak on a variety of curricular topics every week. Teachers attend the START meetings weekly twice and are enriched by eminent educationists, who deliver speeches on topics which are identified at the beginning of each academic year. In line with the ambition of Dr. Elizabeth Schram, START invites foreign faculty who explain new teaching methods which can be adopted in TSA classrooms. During the foreign faculty visits, START organized international symposiums. I was privileged to attend all the weekly meetings and symposiums and have benefitted a lot. May God the Almighty bless the forthcoming symposium and rejuvenate START!
